Heroes on the Cenotaph - the stories behind the names

To most people, those mentioned on WW1 memorials are just names, long forgotten in the passing of time.

To local genealogists, the 58 names on the Te Awamutu Cenotaph in Anzac Green are an opportunity to tell the stories of their bravery, their connection to Te Awamutu and - most of all - to ensure they are not forgotten.

Following on from their 2024 talk, members of the genealogy group are pleased to reveal a further 11 stories in the lead up to Anzac Day.
Surnames in the list include:

  • Barry
  • Bluck
  • Daking
