A three page letter from, Gilbert Archey the director of the Auckland Institute and Museum to Mona Gordon regarding the upcoming publication of one of her books, most likely "The Garden of Tāne", published in 1944, along with three pages of editing notes.
He writes, "I have enjoyed it, and I think that your method of giving the facts of New Zealand botany and Māori life in the personal way will prove attractive to a wide circle of readers. Those who are just looking for the facts are quite satisfied with matter of fact presentation, but there are many others whose interest we want to catch, and I hope your book will have a wide circulation and thereby perform this service."
